Critics Decry Looming NY State Parks Closings

Critics Decry Looming NY State Parks Closings

So is there real support for this?
Or, will the Politicians turn a deaf ear yet again when we ask for equal access?
I will go and listen to what they have to say today.

Windsurfing is not a crime. But according to the NYS Park system it is an illegal activity at ALL Ocean Beaches.
It is allowed at Heckscher State park, from April 15 to October 15th on the Great South Bay. That's it!

And while there are Miles of Outer Beaches accessible via 4X4... it is illegal to even carry a surfboard in your truck on these beaches.

Long Island's outer beaches are the exclusive playground of Fishermen. YOU and I ARE NOT ALLOWED.

This DISCRIMINATORY practice IS SUPPORTED, ENDORSED, and ENFORCED BY by New York State.

Frank,
Keep up the fight. In the eyes of the policy makers and politicians, surfing and windsurfing are not very important. That's why it is less of a hassle to go commando. I didn't make the rally because I was in VT. It is hard to understand with sports that are peaceful and pure that they are not given recognition. Billy T

Billy,

The more I work on this; the more I see why 'flying under the radar' is still our best short term option. My fear is once policy makers realize we exist; they will formally ban us. This is the action NYS Parks took when they realized people were windsurfing from Jones and Robert Moses. We can thank our Kitesurfing friends for that.
