Important dates coming up, or passing you by.

From The LIBAG site... LIBAG.org

For those of you who were unable to travel to Bonaire, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Cabo San Carlos, or Maui this winter…The water is finally ice free! We no longer have to dodge icebergs in the lineup, or risk hitting submerged ice at 20 knots. And it is about time. Soon we will be able to wear less than 5 mill of neoprene to get wet.

March 28th through April 25

The Long island and Cape Cod crews descend on Avon NC. Team riders, pros, amateurs, and rank beginners welcome.

April 24th

LIBAG, and The Long Island Windsurfing Group would love to have your help at the Town of Babylon’s Gilgo Beach. LIBAG officially adopted Gilgo Beach.
The clean up  will take place on Friday, April 24th, Arbor Day.
We want to thank Florence Findley from the Town of Babylon for the opportunity to help.

May 2nd

LIBAG will also be sponsoring the beach clean up at NYS Park’s Gilgo  Beach.
This is the area that encompasses Old Coast Guard through Hemlocks beach.
This clean up is on Love My Park Day May 2nd, 2015. This is in cooperation with the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, as well as Parks & Trails NY.
We want to thank Tim Byrne from NYSOPRHP for the opportunity to help.

June 6th and 7th

Heckscher State Park will again be host to the East Coast Windsurfing Festival, ECWF L.I.  June 6th and 7th 2015. Follow the peconicpuffin.com for updates.
We want to thank David Auguste from NYSOPRHP for hosting us again.

Sometime this summer,

There will still be opportunities to pitch in with Habitat for Humanity, who believe it or not…are still working on rebuilding homes damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
We will keep you posted on dates as they come available.

There will of course, be even more beach clean ups and events this summer.
Stay tuned to LIBAG.ORG for details as they become available.

September 2015

Mecox

Jeff S. alerted me to the fact that there was clear ice to be had at Mecox.  I was chomping at the bit to get some. I rigged an old 6.5 that was entirely too big, so I never hooked in. I should have rigged a 5.0 or 5.5 max.  I know Mustang and a few dipped in the soft water of the Atlantic for some surf. But for me, it was great to feel the boom in my hands again.
